1960s LA Street Gangs

As much as it may look like a fully styled photoshoot, the image for this post is actually taken from LIFE magazine. It shows real people wearing their regular clothes with some serious style. I stumbled across this selection of images on the blogosphere today and felt compelled to share it. The images are from a 1966 publication of LIFE magazine who visited LA and documented the ‘protection gangs’ a year after the worst riots America has ever seen. The article elaborates further on the historical context of these snaps.
