Rare Muddy Waters/Rolling Stones Show Released

The Stones certainly weren’t strangers to working with master that was Muddy Waters at this stage, but the news that this legendary show a) was recorded and b) is going to be released made my day. “ Muddy Waters And Rolling Stones – Live At The Checkerboard Lounge documents this historic November 22, 1981 performance. In the middle of a mammoth American tour, the Stones arrived in Chicago for a three-night stand at the Rosemount Horizon. As Chicago blues fans they visited Muddy Waters’ club, The Checkerboard Lounge, to witness a concert by the legendary bluesman. Before long Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Ian Stewart joined in on stage. Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Lefty Dizz also joined in.

The original footage of the event has been restored with sound mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain.

Muddy Waters And Rolling Stones – Live At The Checkerboard Lounge will be released on Tuesday July 10 via Eagle Rock Entertainment.”
