2008 Zenato Valpolicella

I have always loved trying new reds and discovering new varieties. I have always leaned towards French and Spanish , but as of this spring have been diving into some of those great Italian reds. This wine had a rich red color with a nose that reminded me of my grandmas house with notes of fig, currants, clove, raisin, chocolate, and an earthy aroma as it was opening up. All those same flavors were on the palate with the addition of clove.  It had medium tannins that will help it age a bit and should be good for another 3 to 5 years.
