1990 Château Suduiraut Sauternes

I had been reading more and more about how amazing and wonderful the aged Sauternes are but had yet to really have a top notch one until recently, when I was lucky to try two in two weeks. The first one was the 1990 Château Suduiraut. Just looking at it made my mouth water. It was golden honey in color and the sweetest honey, roasted almonds, toast, and apricots you can think of. The smooth complex flavor of fresh caramel and candied fruits blended with honey and quince. It had medium acidity and a finish that was days long. We enjoyed this with some great lemon zest Stilton that was a perfect treat. I could only imagine this with some ultra fresh Foie Gras. This was something special for sure. Aged twenty two years and spot on aged when we enjoyed this. Pick this up soon if you see it as it may not last this good past 2013 or 2014.
