Rock Out- 2011 So Far
YOB- Atma
When I had heard that doom giants ( in reference to their sound, not necessarily in terms of popularity ) brought out a new album I nearly fell over myself to run to my trusted heavy metal supplier in St. Pauli. No joke, next to High On Fire, YOB is the heaviest fucking three piece you’ll ever hear. Random note- YOB’s 2nd album was the first ever music review that I had published a life time ago. “Atma” is a return to form for YOB, since their last two records weren’t as good as their first 3. They even managed to get more than 3 songs on this album, despite their usual 10minute plus lengthy jams. My favourite song is by far “Adrift in the Ocean” which features Scott Kelly of Neurosis also.

Great list. I sent in some late submissions and most were already covered in here.
Saw Soundgarden w/Queens a couple weeks ago and was blown the fuck away at how amazing it was. They got rid of the crowd pleasers right off the bat then continued on with a heavy pummeling. I could go on and keep the drool flying about each of these choices but I’ll save it. Nice work!
