Smelly Book

SmellyBookMono.kultur is a print magazine, based in Berlin. Photographer Kai von Rabenau has just published the 23rd issue. It is directed to our most primary sense: the smell. No imagery distracts, the smell is printed onto the paper with a technique called micro-encapsulation. Norwegian artist and scientist Sissel Tolaas is responsible for the twelve different scents – not perfumes, rather “difficult smells”. Tolaas says “I collected smells instead of writing a diary.”
