The Black Keys – Brothers

black-keys-brothersAkron, Ohio’s soulful electric guitar-and-drums duo The Black Keys will release its sixth studio album,Brothers, on May 17 on the Nonesuch label. The album was primarily produced by Auerbach and Carney themselves (though producers Danger Mouse and Mark Neill also lent a hand) and recorded largely at Alabama’s legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. Additional recording was done in The Black Keys’ Akron hometown (at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound System studio) and in Brooklyn (at The Bunker). The album includes 14 originals and a cover of Jerry Butler’s “Never Gonna Give Up On You”

Most recently, The Black Keys collaborated with hip-hop artists like Mos Def and Q-Tip to release Blakroc in November. Prior to that, the band issued the Danger Mouse-produced Attack & Release in 2008; it was The Black Keys’ best-selling album to date. The band has announced plans to tour throughout spring and summer 2010, but only a few dates have been confirmed (see below).
