Elton John & Leon Russell Recording with T Bone Burnett
News is that Elton John is recording an album with his musical hero Leon Russell in a Los Angeles studio with T Bone Burnett, the Grammy-winning producer who also oversaw the unlikely pairing of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss for Raising Sand.
Now, normally I wouldn’t get excited about any Elton John news, but let’s face it, the man wrote some killer tunes back in the 70s – “Tiny Dancer” for example. What makes this such interesting news is that Elton John is working with T Bone Burnett. The man is an absolute legend, his work with Plant and Krauss should have recently cemented this fact. And if this previous work is anything to go by, this combo could be what Rick Rubin was to Johnny Cash.
