The Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra

AndromedaPosterThe Andromeda Galaxy is the one spiral galaxy that is closest to our own, the Milky Way. On a moonless night you can see it with your naked eye.

The Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra is for your ears. If you love movie scores and don‘t hate jazz, this is something to explore. Think „fanfares of imaginary film production companies“. The term „soundscapes“ really cuts it here. Above all, the music is most contemporary.

Daniel Glatzel, the leader of the pack, cites computer games, the Second Viennese School, cartoons, renaissance polyphony, shabby infomercials and elevators in expensive hotels as influences.

The ensemble itself reminds of a big band. They‘re on a little tour starting in March. Unfortunately, only in Germany. The band counts 20 musicians – as an independent art project, apparently it‘s difficult to bring them all together.

Check out their Myspace for tour dates and listen to the tracks. But you should try and get a copy of the CD or the vinyl. Avant-garde that‘s worth it.
