Kavinsky “Nightcall” ep out on March 22nd
Kavinsky, who is a close friend of renowned electro-artist Mr. Oizo and losely connected to the Ed Banger label, released his first ep “Teddy Boy” in 2006 on Record Makers. Along with the music he created dense, thrilling and visual appealing artworks for the storyline, which connect all Kavinsky releases. It says that he got killed in crashing his Ferrari Testarossa in 1986 and returned as an undead in 2006 to continue his work. Check out the impressive animated-video for “Testarossa Autodrive”.
Kavinsky’s sound is a tribute to the 80ies, like the Miami Vice soundtrack on steroids. Arpeggiated synths and heavily processed drums, big soundscapes, pushing beats and countless of neat, little details. He draws inspiration from old music, tv-shows and action-movies and blends them into a unique and outstanding multimedia piece of art.
2007 saw the release of the second ep “1986″, pushing the storyline even further and establishing the “Dead Cruiser” image.
“Nightcall” is the third ep and the last before he starts working on a full-length album. In an interview with Fool’s Gold he indicated that there will be a short movie for the album too.
According to WATM the tracklist of “Nightcall” reads as following:
A1. Nightcall (produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo (Daft Punk) & Kavinsky, mixed by sebastiAn)
A2. Pacific Coast Highway (produced by Kavinsky, mixed by Jackson)
B1. Nightcall (Jackson remix)
B2. Pacific Coast Highway (Dustin N Guyen remix)
“Nightcall” is going to feature vocals by Lovefoxxx of CSS.
The ep will be released on March 22nd, 2010, on the Record Makers label.
